Ever since my first minimal series I had been itching to get a collection together of more than a few items to do a second batch. This collection began though with my son, also a collector, and his asking me to take a picture of an item for him to draw later on. So we got to talking about doing a series together. This is as much his series as it is mine. We began collecting beautiful plant material (and I couldn’t resist including that one snail shell), until we had quite a good number of items. We discussed a little about them together, and in some cases we rejected various items that weren’t noteworthy that the other person had found. Not everything was to go in this collection. The sunny day came where the light was strong and the conversation indicated that the collecting was over.
You can find the previous collection of three images that inspired this series here.
The images were photographed on a sheet of white paper in broad daylight. I used VSCOcam’s n1 filter to aim for a more whitened paper and brighter leaves. I cropped as necessary (and all in 2×3 format), keeping in mind the shadow as much as the object in my composition. I present them in order of color from the violets, through the greens, briefly to yellow, through oranges to reds. See more of my work using VSCOcam on my grid mobilography.vsco.co.
